Luxonic’s gifted team of product engineers have been fundamental in securing the lighting manufacturer’s first patent certificate. The win comes as a result of the Luxonic LuxLab’s continued drive on innovation, supported by significant internal investment over recent years, including this year’s vast expansion of the Hampshire manufacturing base.

The patent relates to an invention for “housing for an electrical connection”, the first mechanism of its kind to provide an all-in-one water seal and cable restraint for luminaires. Whilst conventional solutions normally result in larger housing to accommodate the bulk of the gland and cable restraint, the Luxonic patented mechanism reduces the number of components required for an electrical connection, and maintains a compact form for ease of installation.

Nick Tavare, managing director, commented: “Having been in business for over 30 years now, Luxonic have managed to keep ahead of the curve through our substantial investment in innovation at the LuxLab. Thanks to our talented team of product engineers and designers, we’ve been able to develop novel inventions, such as this patent, to support the forward-thinking solutions we deliver to a growing client roster.”
