When Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) embarked on a futureproofing of its entire Birley Fields campus, it saw the design and commercial benefits of Luxonic’s LED solutions as essential to its strategy.
After initial design concept meetings, Luxonic designed, prototyped and manufactured a photometrically tested aluminium extruded solution. Working to a detailed specification, we created low-powered LED lighting suite to kit out almost 80 per cent of the 124,000 sq ft campus.
Working with our KNX2DALI lighting control system consisting some 50 IP routed KNX lines, 110 KNX2DALI Gateways and 1700 KNX sensors and switch input units, MMU’s environmental team was able to halve the load of its original lighting structure on the way to becoming recognised as the UK’s most sustainable university. Luxonic accepted the responsibility for lighting and KNX system design guaranteeing compatibility of all delivered product.
